What is an IVC Filter?

An IVC filter is a spider like wire inserted into a major vein that helps carry blood from the lower body into the heart. Its purpose it to prevent blood clots from entering the heart, lungs, kidneys or brain by catching the clots in the bloodstream and breaking them down over time.

However, IVC Filters are breaking inside patients and metal parts are moving through the body; via the bloodstream; damaging the heart, lungs and causing internal bleeding. Patients are experiencing bleeding, organ damage and chronic pain.

The claims against the manufacturers of the IVC Filter, Bard, state the manufacturers knew of these risks and failed to warn patients and physicians about them.

Showard Law Firm is currently accepting these types of claims. If you have been injured due to an IVC filter, contact our office today for a free consultation.
