For the second time this year, the Food and Drug Administration has issued a warning about the dietary supplement Reumofan Plus, which has caused bleeding, strokes and death among those who have taken the pills. The FDA said while the pills are being marketed as being a “natural” remedy for arthritis and muscle pain, Reumofan contains three prescription drug ingredients: dexamethasone, a corticosteroid; diclofenac sodium, an anti-inflammatory drug; and methocarbamol, a muscle relaxant.
Anyone who has taken Reumofan products is urged to consult a doctor immediately to safely discontinue use of the pills. The hidden drug ingredients in these pills could lead to serious, including life-threatening, consequences, the risks of which increase the longer the pills were taken. The FDA cautioned that immediately discontinuing use of the pills could also cause withdrawal side-effects or life-threatening adrenal suppression.
The FDA said it was continuing to investigate Reumofan, which is manufactured in Mexico by Riger Naturals.
